1. What is the tuition rate and registration fee?
Tuition will be paid monthly. 30-minute lessons will be $55 per month, 45-minute lessons will be $80 per month, and 60-minute lessons will be $110 per month.
Monthly tuition fees will remain the same no matter the number of weeks or lessons in a month. If lessons are cancelled for any reason (including holiday, illness, weather, vacation, etc.), the monthly fee remains the same.
Tuition is due by the 10th of the month from September through May. A $10 late fee will be added for late payments.
Instead of passing on hidden fees (registration fee, recital fee, xerox fee, book deposit, etc.) to you, I would rather be upfront when a book purchase is needed. Before ordering, I will contact you directly about the book. I will order the book, and I will add the cost to your monthly bill. Wunderkeys books feature 10 lessons, so you can figure on needing to purchase a new book every 10 weeks.
2. What is included in Tuition?
- Private, 1 on 1 lessons
- Supplemental materials
- Access to the student portal
- Recital opportunities
HERE is a good resource to see all the places your child’s tuition goes.
3. When and how do I pay for my child’s lessons?
Monthly tuition is due on the 1st of every month, and it is expected to be paid for the upcoming month.
You can pay via cash, check, PayPal, or credit card. Your student portal’s AutoPay feature is highly recommended.
4. Where is Wildflower Music Studio located?
Wildflower Music Studio is located in the music room of St. Joseph School in Danville, PA. The address is 1027 Ferry St., and parking is located in the front lot. You will need to buzz in the main entrance and state that you are there for piano lessons. Then you will need to sign-in in the school office, get your visitor’s badge, and sign out when your lesson is over.
5. Do we need to have a piano?
Yes, a piano must be available for at-home practice. If families do not have a piano they must get one before regular lessons can begin. I will not schedule a student who does not have an instrument to practice on.
When purchasing a keyboard there are a lot of factors to consider. You can read THIS to consider all options and see some specific suggestions. The most important things for a keyboard is that it has at least 61 keys, and that they keys are weighted and full-size (not smaller than piano keys). In addition to a keyboard, you will need a bench, power jack, music stand, pedal, and headphones (unless you want to hear your child practicing all the time!). You can find bundles on Amazon, but not all keyboards are created equal, so I would lean toward a Yamaha brand, or one of the ones mentioned below.

6. When will we have lessons?
Wildflower Music Studio operates based on the St. Joseph School Calendar, and is closed all days that St. Joseph School is closed (excluding the summer session). Lessons are held August-May in alignment with the school calendar, though the start/end weeks may vary. HERE is a PDF to the school’s calendar.
Lessons will only be offered during the school day - Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-3:30 PM.
If St. Joseph School is closed then Wildflower Music Studio will be closed as well.
7. What books will my child use?
At our first meeting I will evaluate which book I believe is best suited for your child’s learning style, developmental abilities, and interest.
8. What if I need to change my lesson time or miss a lesson?
I operate on a full schedule, so moving to another lesson time or day is often not a possibility. If you have an upcoming absence, families are invited to request to swap their lesson time with another family. I will provide a Family Swap List after the school year begins, and each family is in charge of contacting another family if they are interested in finding a time to swap. Inclusion in the swap list is not mandatory, and I will ask your preference to be included after you register for monthly lessons.
9. What is the deal with the "Swap List"?
Because specific times are set aside for specific students, a student who does not attend a lesson will simply miss the benefit of that lesson. I will then use that time or other times to plan for the student’s progress, locate materials, etc. There are no refunds or discounts given unless I am unable to teach a particular lesson. However, feel free to take advantage of the “Swap” opportunity which is explained below:
- I must be asked about a swap before making it. I must be informed about the swap after arranging it.
- The parent who arranges the swap must email me with the details of the swap and cc the person with whom they are making the swap.
- No make-up lessons will be given if any confusion from a swap arises.
- Should 2 people arrive at once, I will teach the one whose lesson is normally at that time.
- Please inform me if you do not wish to have your name, number, and email included on the swap list.
10. Do I need to stay for my child's lesson?
With young students, yes. Young students benefit from having a parent remaining in lessons, since the parent will need to guide at-home practice. Parents will find great benefit in observing weekly lessons when they recreate at home, the skills and activities that were introduced in the studio lesson.
